Manga Against the Gods

Well, this is very, very bad. The problem with Wuxia novel adaptations is that you need a ridiculously good drawing to match the things they write in the novels, from godly battles, massacres, destruction and a ridiculously amount of non censored violence: basically, it has to match what you imagine when you read the novel. This is the most important aspect, since wuxia novels are in most cases disgusting copies of each other with a very simple story, so you must adapt it in a way that the reader doesnt get bored in 5 seconds, and many times change the characters and the development of the story as well, so it gets a bit less repetitive. That being said, It must be said: the drawing absolutely sucks. It’s very bad, with no contrast or detailed fights, just beams of lights and bad drawn techniques all over the adaptations, and with poor character differentiation and details. It doenst make you feel anything, like for example, Solo Leveling and The Legend of the Northern Blade, that have similar stories(I would say ATG has a way better one than SL in the novels) but the drawing is so good, specially in LNB, that really makes you remember the characters, and makes you feel their emotions trough it. I know It may sound a bit weird, but If you practice any kind of art, you will know what I mean. Continuing, one of the main points of the novel is the ruthless of its MC: he is a genocidal. And the amount of people he kills is simply ridiculous, but none of that matters if the killings felt like just nothing special, and with little detail about them. Its not that the violence is censored in this manwha, it is just bad drawn and bad written, and not even nearly enough to match the novels. And at last, the MC. Its true that most Wuxia novels are practically copy paste of each other, not specially complex nor interesting, and with the classic ego complex… but man, come on. This MC is different from others mostly due to his traumas and his ridiculous murderous intent, its not “complex” but at least is a bit more than other wuxia protagonists, but here he is exactly the same as every other bad wuxia adaptation. He has no development, no mood changes, no fear, and its basically a prick or a playboy. Well, I know this has a lot of orthography and redaction mistakes, and that is very long, but I hope that helps you to get an idea of what this disgusting adaptation is all about. I read the whole manga until chapter 430, and more than 1000+ LN chapters some years ago, so even if I can’t give you a super detailed explanation, I can tell you this is nowhere close to the LN. If you want to read something like this but good, I recommend Red Storm, Legend of the Northern Blade, The Player that can’t Level Up and maybe some other, but it will be different from what this is, not wuxia-like, The Great Mage Returns after 4000 years and A Returner’s Magic should be Special. I haven’t started to read it yet, but I did read the light novel some years ago and oh my, was pretty good. Honestly, I don’t have much faith on this because usually manwha adaptations of light chinese novels are beyond garbage, but for the quality of ATGA, I hope the best. Know that the light novel is one of the most violent of them all, the protagonist is pretty much like Kratos from GOW until the third one, killing everything that tries to stop him, and in a very ruthless way. I hope he had grow up as a character in the LN.
